Known for her work with global fashion powerhouses like adidas, Nike, Levi’s, Balenciaga and Off White, Megan has carved out a name for herself as the region’s go-to creative talent with her distinctive perspective and artistic vision in photography, directing and editing.
Over the past few years, Megan’s collaborations with renowned brands have experienced remarkable growth. From shooting and directing the SS22 launch video for Asics to documenting VICE x Lenovo’s 360 immersive video shoot, Megan continues to showcase her bold perspective through exciting and challenging projects. Notable clients include END clothing, Selfridges, Wagamama, Paul Smith and Depop. Furthermore, Megan's extensive work with these prominent brands also influenced her career as an educator. Leveraging her experiences from the industry forefront, she taught Fashion Communication at her alma mater, Northumbria University, leading modules in film and photography, and creating fresh, captivating content that bridged the gap between the arts industry and academia.
Away from the fast-paced and frenetic commercial world, Megan immerses herself in her personal work, telling the rich, diverse and compelling stories of marginalised communities in the North of England. Her distinctive perspective is deeply rooted in her upbringing in Scarborough, a seaside town in North Yorkshire. The experiences of living in an underprivileged area have profoundly influenced the identity of Megan's brand, driving her unwavering determination to tell authentic stories that evoke genuine emotions. This theme has become an integral part of her brand's DNA, infusing documentary-style photography and videography with a raw and sincere essence.
Having always been involved in creative pursuits throughout her education, Megan began to grow her portfolio with documentary photography as the primary medium. Achieving success in this niche, Megan expanded her focus on documenting marginalised communities and subcultures in the North of England, illuminating their lives and bringing their unique stories to life. Her voice can be heard loud and clear in her series Scarborough Girls, an intimate exploration of the community and complexity of women in her hometown which captures their stories with honesty and intimacy.
Through her art, Megan continuously sheds light on the strength, resilience, and spirit of individuals from disadvantaged communities. In 2018, Megan’s photo, Shona and Bella, was announced as a winner of the Portrait of Britain award, one of only 100 winners from a staggering 15,000 UK entries. In 2020, three of Megan’s images were shortlisted for the Portrait of Britain with her portrait, Waiting for the next fare, going on to win the award. Both of her winning photos were displayed on JCDecaux screens up and down the country as part of a national exhibition and all of her portraits are featured in the Portrait of Britain Vol.3 Book, available to buy directly from the British Journal of Photography.
At the moment, Megan is working on her latest documentary project, The Hoppings, which delves deeper into the world of funfairs and the individuals who bring them to life. This work has been brought to from digital to IRL in September 2023 at Megan's first solo exhibition in the iconic Ouseburn in the heart of Newcastle. The work was displayed in the Arena gallery which is dedicated to highlighting local artists.
