Scarborough Girls brings together the distinctive characters which make up a unique portrait and true representation of modern seaside Britain in a time of huge social change for not only our seaside towns but the country. Behind the curtain of bright lights and candy floss we uncover a town struggling for survival.
Photographed over 3 months between February to May and conducted as part of my university Final Major Project with the outlook of continuing as a personal and passion project.
The portrait above has since been shortlisted by British Journal of Photography for the Portrait of Britain 2018. From over 13,000 entries it has been shortlisted to just 200. All of the shortlisted photographs are being made into a book and published internationally by Hoxton Mini Press. The finalists will be announced next month with 100 photos being apart of a public exhibition displayed on JCDecaux screens across Britain.
